Some visual novels stay with you. Princess Lover is one of them: Teppei Arima, an ordinary guy who overnight inherits a fortune and a noble title, Hakuoh Academy, four unforgettable heroines and plenty of situations mixing comedy, romance and drama.
At Luna Project we have spent YEARS, literally (6 years we started the project and ryuugames stole our work and release a shitty AI Slop of our translation), working so this classic can be played the way it deserves on today’s computers. Today we can finally tell you everything it brings.
What is this version?
It is not an emulator or a “patch on top of another patch”. We wrote an interpreter for the QLIE engine from scratch, the engine the game was made with: it reads the game data and runs its original scripts, animations and menus. That is why it runs natively on every system, without Wine, without Rosetta and without weird programs in between.
And there is a bonus: since it interprets the engine and not just one game, it does not only work with Princess Lover, but with the visual novels made with QLIE, such as Bishoujo Mangekyou, which is the one we used to rewrite it.
The rule we set ourselves was simple: it has to feel exactly like the original, and from there improve what needed improving.
Uncensored CGs
Let us be clear from the start: this version includes the uncensored CGs. The scenes look exactly as they were drawn, with no mosaics or cuts.
And since every CG unlocks in the gallery, you can view them again whenever you want from the SPECIAL mode.
Multilingual
Play in the language you prefer and switch it from the settings menu:
- Japanese — the original script.
- English – 10% of the script translated with AI (from Spanish)
- Spanish – Native from the start, straight from Japanese
No separate patches to download and no files to replace by hand: all three languages come in the same game.
Truly multiplatform
| Platform | Status |
|---|---|
| Windows | ✅ Available |
| Linux | ✅ Available (self-contained package) |
| macOS Intel | ✅ Available |
| macOS Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4…) | ✅ Available, native, no Rosetta |
| Android | 🔜 Coming soon |
On Mac the app is Universal 2: the same file runs natively on both Intel Macs and Apple Silicon Macs.
Portable: carry it on a USB stick
There is no installer. Copy the whole game folder wherever you want —another drive, another computer or a USB stick— and it keeps working, with your saves and settings included. You do not need to install libraries or codecs either: video and audio work out of the box.

All the content, complete
- 4 heroines, 4 routes and 4 endings: Sylvia, Charlotte, Seika and Yuu.
- We tested the game automatically by going through every combination of choices (365 playthroughs) all the way to each ending, without a single error.
- We restored a scene from Sylvia’s route that had been lost in some older versions, CG included.
- Video opening and the original title animations: petals, sky, the academy and the logo, synced with the music.
Faithful to the original, plus a few things we promised our Patreons
- Original menus: title, save/load, settings, history and extras use the game’s own art, animations and sounds. No generic menus.
- We compared the image with the original game pixel by pixel: backgrounds match 100% and scenes with characters are practically identical.
- Audio was measured against the original too: music loops, fades, voices and effects sound the same.
- Transitions, animated backgrounds, camera effects and cut-ins, all working.
SPECIAL mode (extras)
It unlocks when you finish any route, just like in the original:
- CG album (91 images) with viewer and zoom.
- Memories: replay the 27 special scenes whenever you want.
- Music: all 28 tracks of the soundtrack.
Modern comforts
Saving
- 100 save slots (10 pages × 10), with thumbnail, date, route and scene text.
- Quick save and quick load.
- Compatible with your saves from the original game: you can see and load them from the load screen.
Reading
- History (backlog) with voice replay.
- Auto mode, skip read text (or everything), hide window.
- Adjustable text speed, auto mode delay and window opacity.
- Mute voices per character, in case you only want to hear your favorite.
Image and sound
- Scalable window from ×1.0 to ×2.5 and fullscreen (F11 or Alt+Enter).
- Three scaling modes: SHARP, SMOOTH and PIXEL, so the art looks the way you like on big screens.
- Master volume and per-channel volume: music, voices, effects, system and video.
Controls
- Keyboard and mouse with the original shortcuts: F1 load, F2 save, Esc settings, mouse wheel for the history.
If something goes wrong
- The game automatically saves a report with what happened and the scene line. Just send it to us and we will fix it.
What about ShitDroid?
It is on its way. The engine is already multiplatform, so the next step is adapting it to touch screens so you can carry Princess Lover in your pocket. We will let you know as soon as it is ready.
